The most pressing goal for the Friends
association is the improvement of the main road
in the park. This road extends from US-23 to the
trailhead and Lake Huron. The road varies from
rough two track to a clay-stone mix. Seasonally,
deep pot holes appear from use and make the road unusable for certain vehicles. Friends of
Thompson’s Harbor State Park would like to have
the road improved enough so all may access
the park, regardless of vehicle type. The Friends
association is currently raising awareness of this
issue and working with the DNR park staff on a
resolution to this issue.

FOTH is also working closely with the DNR park staff to keep existing trails within the park clear of debris and branches for ease of walking. Again, this would greatly increase access to the park and its wonderful surroundings.

Your generous donation would help us to accomplish these goals and many more. Please consider using the Contacts page of this site to make your tax-deductible donation.
